Training for Work
We offer free Training for Work and Sole Parent Employment programmes at our Manukau and Panmure branches which are funded by the Ministry of Social Development. These course are available to applicants who are aged 18 and over and are referred by Work and Income New Zealand.
These programmes are designed to place the job seeker into employment. All areas of effective job seeking are covered including creating resumes and curriculum vitaes, application letters, interviewing skills, the methods and techniques of finding work in New Zealand.
Job seekers will also learn how to identify and talk about their skills, how to present themselves for an interview and how to understand employability skills in the New Zealand workforce.
Other areas that will be covered include business communication, time management, stress management, available community resources, customer service and dealing with the public, effective workplace relationships, health and safety in the workplace, understanding employment contracts and workplace etiquette.
The Training for Work programme is 13 weeks long and the hours are 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The Sole Parent Employment programme is 16 weeks long and the hours are 9:00 am to 12:00 pm or 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
